National Native American Heritage Month

The entire month of November is National Native American Heritage Month with Native American Heritage Day celebrated on Friday November 26, 2021. What originally started as one day, has now turned into an entire month to celebrate and recognize the significant contributions Native Americans have made and continue to make in the founding and growth of the United States.

Previously known as "American Indian Day", it was first declared by a state on the second Saturday in May 1916 by the governor of New York, but it was not until 1990 that President George H. W. Bush designated November as “National American Indian Heritage Month.”

As we all prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, The Committed Collective encourages everyone to research the history of Native Americans and the immeasurable contributions that they have given to this land and the true history of the holidays we as Americans have grown to celebrate and love. Collective Contributions

The Committed Collective is devoted to making major change in all U.S. communities. Each month in 2021 we will be highlighting our work with one an organization to donate, promote, sponsor or collaborate with.

This month The Committed Collective is getting an early start on our Christmas holiday efforts. We will be highlighting several charitable organizations throughout the next month and encourage everyone to check out local organization within your local community to either donate to or get involved with. There is always someone you can lend a hand to right in your own backyard.

Be an Elf an organization that partners with USPS Operation Santa to help needy kids get toys for Christmas. Volunteers can adopt a letter written to Santa online and buy gifts for that family.

Toys for Tots is a national not-for-profit that works with local agencies to deliver unwrapped Christmas toys for kids.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides after-school programs to kids around the county. Depending on your chapter, they may host holiday programs, like holiday toy drives and meals, to help financially struggling during the holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is celebrated annually on the 4th Thursday of November. This year it falls on November 25, 2021 and is a day of gratitude and thanks. It is a national holiday here in the United States and is also celebrated on different days in multiple other countries such as Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia. Please take a moment today to sit down and reflect on all that you are thankful for whether big or small.e.
